Donald Eugene Lewis
Donald Eugene Lewis passed away Saturday, January 27, 2007 in Ballinger, Texas at the age of 74 years. Services are to be held at 3PM Tuesday in the Chapel at Heritage Family Funeral Home in Ballinger.
He was born October 19, 1932, in Merkel, TX. In 1951 he joined the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Matthews for four years. Donald then went to work for Strain Brothers.
On September 30, 1961 he married his darling, Pat Petty. In May of 1989 he retired due to his Parkinson Disease.
Donald loved spending his time listening to country music, dancing, playing cards, and fishing with his grandchildren. He always had a beautiful garden in which he took great pride in.
Donald is survived by his loving wife Pat of 45 years. Four children: Susan and husband Bob Herring of Miles, TX, Tim Petty of Junction, TX, Jimmy Petty of Ocean Springs, MS, Cheri and husband Mike Kordek of Spring, TX. Eight grandchildren: Tripp and Ryder Herring, Delton and Megan Petty, Julie and Marcie Petty, and Kristopher and Patrick Kordek. Eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Mary Scott of Caldwell, TX, Betty Martin of Comanche, TX, and one brother, Tom Lewis of Bellville, TX. Special friends Jim and Carlene Chism and Priscilla Hoffman. He is preceeded in death by his parents, Tom and Era Lewis, his older brother Harold Lewis, and a great grandson Chance Robert Smith.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to Dr. Chang, Vista Care, Heritage Oaks Nursing Home staff, and the great nurses for their care.
Donald suffered from Parkinson disease and the family asks that any donations be made to that foundation.
