Obituary for Frances Louise Wardlaw Hall Ayers

Frances Louise Wardlaw Hall
Our dear mother and grandmother died peacefully in Community Medical Center in San Angelo, December 17, 2007.
She was born near Concho, Texas, east of Paint Rock, August 25, 1914, as the third of five daughters born to Malcome Black Wardlaw and Stella Evans Wardlaw, who were both children of early Runnels county pioneers and farmers, Newton Jasper and Nancy J. Wardlaw, who moved by wagon to Ballinger in 1889 and had nine children, and Stella’s parents Lucius S. Evans and F.E. Evans, all of whom are buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger. Louise first attended country school at Concho and then in Ballinger when she graduated salutatorian of her class in 1932. She attended Texas Tech for two years and completed her teaching certificate in San Angelo at ASU. In 1937 she married Robert Thomas Hall in Ballinger. Tommy’s father Davis R. Hall had a group of tire stores and Tommy ran the Ballinger store. During the war they lived in Ballinger, El Paso, and San Antonio where Tommy was an Army Air Corps flight instructor. In 1940 Malcolm Wardlaw Hall was born and in 1943 Davis Reeder Hall III was born. The family returned to Ballinger, and in 1949 built and managed the community landmark Horseshoe Drive-In Theatre, which operated until 1966, two years after Tommy died. She moved to Oklahoma City and later returned to marry rancher Bill Currie in Paint Rock in 1972 and lived there until his death in 1980. In 1982 she married Dick Ayers, manager of the Higginbothams in Ballinger and lived in Ballinger until his death in 2001. She outlived three husbands.
She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ballinger, and supported and loved the church dearly. She was both exciting and goal oriented. Louise loved her family passionately. Her laughter could be heard often and above all others.
She was predeceased by her sisters Ruth (infant) and Faye Boswell. She is survived by her sisters Malcorine Stasney of College Station and Teddy (Mrs. Jack) Williams of San Angelo; her sons, Malcolm and wife Judy of Oklahoma City, OK and Dave of Nokesville, Virginia; grandchildren Malcolm Wardlaw (Ward) Hall II and wife Laurel of Oklahoma City, Davis Reeder (Reed) Hall IV and wife Amy of Chantilly, Virginia, Amy Hall Harrison of Oklahoma City, Walter Kevin Hall of Oklahoma City, Emily Lou Hall, a student at Denver, Colorado University, and Houston Thomas Hall, a student at University of the Ozarks; great-grandchildren, Ethan Blair Hall, Arden Joy Hall, Cameron Thomas Harrison, Jacob Davis Hall, and Brink Franklin Hall all of Oklahoma City; two nieces Stella Anne (Mrs. Ken) Stasney Pierce and Vicky Fay Williams (Mrs. Josh) Harrison both of College Station, and nephew Edward Wardlaw Stasney and wife Sue of Houston, one stepson Robert Thomas Hall, Jr. of Euless also survives.
Gifts in lieu of flowers may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 301 North Broadway, Ballinger, Texas, 76821, in her memory.
A heartfelt and sincere loving Thank you to Darlene McDaniels, Joni Gray, and Juanita Jackson. They loved Louise dearly.
