Abelia S. Islas
Abelia S. Islas, 76, of Ballinger was born July 5, 1931 in Robstown, Texas and passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo. She was preceded in death by her husband Perfecto M. Islas, son, Roberto Islas, sister Juanita Silva, and her parents, Andres and Genoveva Solis. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a member of the Guadalupanas Society. She is survived by her children, Dora Islas and Sixto Sanchez both of Ballinger, Gloria and Arlie Barnes of San Angelo, Irma and Garland Riggs and Johnny and Joanne Islas all of Hamilton, her grandchildren, Garland Jr. and Ethan Riggs and Tabitha, Rowdy, and Robert Islas, and Kimberly Solis all of Hamilton, Becky and Lupe Lopez, Rachel, Randy, Robert, and Christy Islas, and Melanie Beimer all of Ballinger, Sara and Mikey Hernandez of Winters, and John Flores of Brownwood. She is also survived by her sisters, Lupe and Isidoro Juarez of Denton, Paula and Frank Marines and Maria Ibanez both of Robstown and her brothers, Jose and Esperanza Solis and Noe and Ana Solis also of Robstown. 9 great-grandchildren also survive. Rosary will be recited at 7:00PM Friday in the Chapel of Heritage Family Funeral Home in Ballinger. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00AM Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ballinger with Father Hugh Wade Officiating. Burial will follow at the Latin American Cemetery in Ballinger. Funeral Services have been entrusted to Heritage Family Funeral Home in Ballinger.
