Obituary for Eugene Gibson Jr.

San Angelo- Eugene Vernon Gibson Jr., 81, of Eldorado, went to be with his Lord on Friday, January 4, 2013.
He was born January 19, 1931 to E.V. and Bernice Woods Gibson in Schleicher County, TX.
He graduated from Eldorado High School and then was drafted into the Army where he served 2 years in Germany. When he returned to the states, he worked many years in the oilfield industry until he came home to take care of his mother. He finished his working career as a Schleicher County Employee.
He loved to play his guitar and harmonica while sitting on the front porch swing. He also enjoyed spending time with friends at the coffee shop.
He married Mary Faye Blair on May 29, 1982 in Eldorado, TX.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years; daughter Susan (Gene) Dragon of Panna Maria, TX; sons Lloyd Gibson of Pleasanton, TX and George (Barbara) Gibson of Yorktown, TX; stepdaughter Becky (Bill) Rankin of Flower Mound, TX; stepsons Charles (Lori) Blair of Eldorado, TX, Ron Owens of Augusta, GA, and Ray (Judi) Blair of Sherman, TX; grandchildren Jack Gibson, Sabrina (Richard) Multer, Aaron Blair, Ashley Gibson, Katherine Rankin, Casey Akins, Crystal Akins, Jacy Gibson, and Kali Dragon; great grandchildren Reed and Alyssa; sister Louise Harrell of Ballinger, TX; sister-in-law Dorothy Carroll Gibson of Lewisville, TX and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Edward Clinton Gibson; sister Karen Rebecca Gibson Baker.
Memorial service will be held Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Eldorado at Agape Assembly of God Church. Walt Griggs of Grape Creek will be conducting the service with inurnment in the Eldorado cemetery to follow. Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home of Ballinger.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Odyssey Hospice, 402 N. Bryant Blvd., San Angelo, TX 76903.
